When she finally spotted the letter, she ran to the girl's dormitory stairs where he couldn't take it back from her. She ripped it open and read it. She blinked, unable to believe her eyes. It wasn't from her Mum at all. It was Dad, and it was worse than she expected.

Tears where streaming down her face by now. She stepped slowly toward Christopher. "How.... How long have you known? Why didn't you t-tell me? Is this why he's been gone so often? I thought we were a family." Elyon felt as though she had been punched in the stomach as she remembered her mother's words: 'If it weren't for your weirdo loving father, you'd be in an orphanage right now.' What if Dad.... and they had to go to an orphanage? She couldn't bear the thought. She'd never even known her father was sick. She felt her world crumbling down in front of her.
