Suddenly, Alex felt himself wishing he HADN'T been sarcastic to his sister a moment ago, but here was Lafay, in front of him, holding a BAT now. Was she allowed to use that against students!? Oh please MERLIN let it be against the rules--no, against the LAW--for her to do that to him.

"I like that dad felt I was worthy enough to have that middle name," he piped up. True, his dad probably would have gone with something boring, like Peter or Michael, if he'd known that Alex would one day be a Hufflepuff, but he still hadn't suggested he get his name changed or anything. So that was a good sign, yes?
