She giggled, "That's good because I think you would have broken my foot." she said honestly. And that would have really sucked. She didn't like pain and she turned into a big baby. And she didn't want to cry in front of everyone.



Harlow looked up when the professor told them to just move around the room, not doing anything fancy. "Well now we waltz," she smiled up at Kennedy. "Do you want to lead? I actually know how to waltz. Been to a few balls," she informed him.

"Okay..." said Janice

I don't want to disappoint you...

Marilyn wasn't sure why...but this made her smile. That was considerate of him. She was sure Rafe knew about the dance background...It was just another society thing. With the amount of money parents had spent on yearly balls and galas...It was all just a fancy way of presenting children and the family to the world. She'd been forced to make so many people proud. It had been...exhausting...

Of course, now she was quite glad...It put her in a superior position to Rafe. That in itself made her VERY happy...

He began to gradually loosen up and was doing well...and the flourish lift and spin was a nice added touch...The need to tease him, however, was too good to pass up. "In most professional ballroom settings, a lift would have deducted points...IF we were competing." She smirked, feeling his hand slippery with sweat. She imagined hers was much the same. "Just don't get too rough..."

It was funny how this was becoming less...awkward...Hmm.

Pulling him back to the original position, Marilyn smirked. "Again?"

Drat, her plan to blend in with her surroundings hadn’t worked. Of course, her abilities picked the times when she didn’t want them to act up to do just that. Sighing, Kurumi took a few steps forward towards Selina, until she realized that she was already dancing with Gideon. Was it even possible to dance with all three of them together? Kurumi wasn’t entirely sure, but all she wanted to do right now was go hide under a rock. She would even prefer to have a conversation with Professor Lafay to being here.

“It’s…alright Selina, Gideon,” she said timidly. “I-I-I’ll just watch…learn through observation as it were…”

She took a scurried back towards the wall as fast as she could few steps backwards when…
*SQUISH*

Oh dear...that was not the ground that her heel had just landed on and she was certainly NOT pressed up against the wall. Slowly, she turned her head and her cheeks immediately went pink and she was sure her hair was doing something - mostly because she didn't want it to do anything, which clearly meant that it was.

"I-I-I-I'm so sorry!" she squeaked as she flailed about a bit. Merlin, she wasn't even dancing and she was stepping on people. Where was that rock for her to hide under?

Ellie just shook her head with a smile at Dallin. He was pretty confident about this, but when they started dancing... Ellie would probably sweep all the confidence away and send it to some distant unknown land. Yeah. That's how bad she was. "Whatever you say." She mumbled with a small grin.

Listening to Stryker, she tried to keep up with his thick French accent and all the directions he gave. Right. Hands together, check. She nodded when Dallin put his hand on her upper back. And now her hand went on.. his arm. Looking at the professors, Ellie saw where Bentley's hand was and placed her own hand in the same spot on Dallin's arm. Whoo. Deep breath. Try not to injure him? Heh. "I make no promises." She muttered quietly.

Just then, she heard more instructions. If le monsieur moved his right leg forward, then le mademoiselle was to move her left foot back. Ellie stared down at their legs until that made sense. "Erm.. Okay. Got it." She looked up at Dallin warily. "Wanna... walk around?

Ugh. It seemed as if everyone was having a ball except him. He still stood in his corner of desolation, a little lonely but happy, nonetheless. And as he continued to lean against the wall, closely watching for any sign of danger, a sharp pain shot up through his leg and he winced, almost yelping for mercy. "YAAAOUUUCH!" He exclaimed, lifting his hurt leg off the ground as he hopped on one. "This-hurts-sobad." He cried, still bouncing but now glaring at the mother of all evil who stared at him, pretending to be all freaked out. Nu-uh. Nobody's foolin' him.

"No, I'm sorry your highness for being invisible." He grit out, the pain was slowly subsiding, however, the anger didn't seem to leave. "Were you, by any chance, dancing?" He questioned, still supporting himself on one leg.

If Tori was trying to scare her, Stella knew it wasn't going to be easy. In fact, she simply kept the smile on her face as the redhead stared her down. It certainly wasn't the first spoiled brat she'd ever encountered, and the faintest amusement flickered across her face as things turned sickly sweet, especially as poor August didn't seem to know that things weren't going perfectly well, or how he'd expected. It wasn't his fault he didn't know what he'd taken on. "Anything to make you happy, Princess," she replied, just as sweetly, before glancing at Auggie again.

"I'll be around here, just occupying my time. Luckily, I know this dance too," she told him, watching as they were all instructed to begin tentatively dancing. Hopefully Tori wouldn't eat him before the dance was over, but then she would have been perfectly fine by herself anyway. Even if dancing by herself was awkward, she could handle it. There was always the hope she'd get an escape, too. If all they were learning was the waltz, it wouldn't be like she was missing anything.

Kurumi had already begun her bowing routine, so she thankfully didn’t notice the wince of utter pain on his face as he yelped and bounced around in pain. Good thing Kurumi was never a heel sort of girl, then he would have been in real trouble. She looked up for just a moment to see him glaring at her – and it was ALMOST as bad as one of Cookie Hater’s glares.

Her eyes widened when he called her “your highness” and she felt as though she were going to pass out right on the spot – instead she continued to bow. “I-I-I-I really am s-s-s-sorry,” she stammered. “I-I was just trying to get out of everyone’s way seeing as this dancing rather frightens me and…” She had to stop to catch her breath because she was making herself dizzy. “…and I stepped on you. I-I-I wasn’t dancing…I was more trying to blend in with the wall when a friend called me over to join her and a boy she was dancing with…” But she really didn’t fancy being a third wheel either. Not that Selina and Gideon were anything more than friends, right?

Ezra's eyes widened. Why was she bowing all of a sudden? Or was it some kind of another kung fu move to finally knock him off the ground?

Out of no where, a small smirk found it's way on to his lips as she spluttered like an old car out of gas. "Dancing frightens you?" He questioned, shock etched on his face. Ahhh, at last we meet, my endless love. "What are you, a girl or something?" He uttered, slowly placing his foot on the ground, oblivious to the idiocy of his remark. He sighed, the annoyance diminishing slowly but surely. Pursing his lips, he gave the girl a forgiving look, "Well, just know that you really suck at doing this...blending thing." He had to get it out of his system but he didn't intend to be mean.

"So dance frightens you?" It sure does scare him.

"I'm Prudence-Melinda... but people just call me Prue" she said smiling. "Ok then" she, placing her hand on onto Presley's shoulder, resting her arm on her arm. It didn't seem anything close to the awkwardness she expected, the last person she ballroom danced being her sister or other relatives only but on the bright side she'd met someone new through this. Now they had to wait for the next instructions... what "fun". While they were waiting she thought she might as well try to strike a conversation so they weren't just standing there awkwardly. "Yeah... I've been dancing for a while... my sisters better... don't know why she isn't here... in fact she's also a Ravenclaw!"

Rose rolled her eyes. 'Brilliant! Just brilliant! Well, at least we're not in those ball gowns... That'd be weird...' Rose laughed

'Rightyo! Shall us two go first?' Rose chuckled. She took Faven's right hand. 'I'll be the girl? Don't worry, this shouldn't be awkward, everyone has to do it...' Rose chuckled. She placed her right hand on Faven's shoulder and hummed a waltz tune. She couldn't remember then name of it though...
'DADA? Yeah, she's pretty scary, and I've had Lafay. Don't worry, Lafay is a lot nicer than Glass, she just doesn't like anyone knowing!' Rose assured Faven. 'You're gonna get some nasty teachers, they'll get better!' Rose smiled. Hopefully.

Elsie looked around, she didn't seem to know many people here. Although she didn't seem to know many people at all yet! She started to walk around looking for people to dance with.

Good William is right. Rex will be proud of him." Ok, we will start with my right leg moving forward and then back." William said to Eris." You just use the other leg" William told Eris. " Then wwe will move side to side" William explained to Eris. " You are doing real good" William smiled.

" You ready to dance with me now?" Willaim asked Janice.

Why was he smiling? Did he know something she didn't know? Was there something funny on her face? Kurumi blinked at him for a few moments wonder what was going on in his head until he verbalized what she HOPED were his actual thoughts. "A...little..." she admitted sheepishly looking down at the ground. "I-I've only ever danced with someone once...but it wasn't proper like this..." Call her innocent and whatnot, but the only dancing she had ever done involved a fan or pretending to be a fisherman. His next comment confused her though. "L-L-Last time I checked I was one..." Unless she really was part house elf and then she wasn't sure.

She began to tug on her long black hair a bit and squeaked once again. She wasn't good at blending in? Story of her life really. It was all she ever wanted to do though...go by unnoticed. "I-I-I wish I was better at it..." she replied with a weak smile. Whatever undertone had had been going for with that remark had been immediately lost in translation.

"Would saying I would rather be in a room full of cockroaches be a sufficient answer?" She peeked back out at the dance floor and her frown deepened a bit. "I-I-I don't suppose you are good at dancing?" Because, having a partner who at least knew something would be helpful. But...seeing as most people were already paired off...Kurumi would take what she could get.

Selina was still in Gideon's arms when Kurumi made a few quick comments and scurried off. She turned her head, all the while not taking her hand our of Gideon's or taking her hand off of his shoulder, and called after her, "But Kurumi, if you would just...!" But she was gone. What was so bad about the whole dancing ordeal? It was not like all three of them were going to dance together, they would take turns. Then again Selina should have expected this; Kurumi, although she had progressed much, was a very shy person in awkward situations. Perhaps it was best to just let her work it out on her own. They would talk later.

Then she turned her head back around and looked at Gideon, "Sorry about all of the momentary confusion. Um, I'll talk to her later."

His height contributed too? She suppressed a laugh and jested, "Yeah, I guess, but let's not think about it, alright? It just might make this whole dancing thing harder if we think about it..." However, she never got to finish her thought because Mr. Stryker started to demonstrate how they should dance together. Once he was done she looked up at Gideon and said, "Well, um, you ready?"

Waltz.

Now that's something could at least do. Jonathan who was still standing in front of his partner, Cassie, decided to take her hand. Well, he pretty much know the basics. Boy puts the hand over the shoulder blade and the right hand on the back of the lady. Which he did so but he acted awkwardly to that. Cassie is 2 years older than he was and was really pretty. "have you done waltz before?" he asked her. They're not quite conversing well and the point of waltz is the harmony of 2 people dancing together, right? He needs to feel at ease with Cassie right now, whether he likes it or not.

Now for the movements.

He looked at Cassie. Ready when she is. Jonathan has been quite quiet for most of the time. He's just shy around her, especially the fact that she's a seventh year and Jonathan doesn't know that much about her. Jonathan nodded to her as he took his first step.

Oh wow. She sounded so much like him. Shaking his hindquarters in his underpants whilst brushing his pearly whites was the only thing remotely close to dancing that he ever did. And yet some people refuse to accept it as form of dancing. Snapping out of his thoughts, he refocused on Miss Splutters who continued to stammer away. "I believe you now, although you don't look like the type who'd avoid dancing." He said with a shrug before sliding down the wall he was leaning against to sit on the ground. "I'd suggest you follow suit or else you'd be bouncing on one toe sooner or later." He spoke in a nonchalant tone with one of his 'I'm-now-flirting-with-you-even-though-I-fail-at-it' smiles.

Did she just squeak or was it the floorboards? Either way, he had no interest in it because right now, all he could see was hair and lots of it. Miss Splutters hair were exceptionally long, thick and left him drowning in a puddle of envious and enraptured drool. "What did you do to your hair?" He asked, knotting his eyebrows as she tugged on her hair. "Don't do that!" He almost reached over to slap her hand away from the raven locks - HER RAVEN LOCKS - but stopped. Too weird.

Clearing his throat in an attempt to clear his head, he listed to her comparison and nodded. "You, my dear, are suffering from dance-o-phobia." Was there an actual term for it? If not, he can invite her to brainstorm one. And then, she assumed, out of thin air, that he failed at dancing. "And why do you suppose that?" He questioned, scratching some invisible gunk off his jeans. With a soft smile perched on his lips, he glanced at her, waiting for the sputtering to begin.


It was kind of cute.

Salander nodded his head, relieved that it didnt sound like he missed much when the Groundskeeper started to speak.....


Okay, dance position time....

He took Isabelle's right hand into his left and held it aloft, roughly to her eye level. Then he gingerly slipped his right arm beside her midriff and rested his hand over her shoulder blade. He glanced at her and cracked a tiny grin. Easy part done yeah?

He waited for Isabelle to get into position then glanced at the Groundskeeper giving the next instructions. Right nothing fancy. Exactly how he likes it heh "So we head that way?" he asked his partner, angling his head behind her left side

"I think we shall mademoiselle!!" Faven said, laughing quite a bit as she had her left hand join Rose's right. She liften both of their hands, her being the boy in this situation, to Rose's eye level. This was right....wasn't it?????? Faven had walzed only once or twice and had been the girl, all of this leading the dance business was new to her. Now came the more awkward part! Faven placed her right hand on Rose's back, just over her shoulder blade. Was this it or was Faven missing something. She looked frantically over at Rose, hoping for some assistance.

"Oh! Okay, I'll just have to warm up to Lafay then!!! Thank you!" Faven responded enthusiastically. There seemed doubt in the "they'll get better". Did that mean that some wouldn't?? Oh dear oh dear!!!

Isabelle quickly got into place. Grasping Salandershand with her right carefiully. Then she carefully placed her laft hand on his shoulder. Well that was pretty easy. Next part would be harder.

Ok well this seemed not to difficult. "Yep, I guess so," Isabelle replied and began moving to her left.

No, that wasn't it, exactly. She was kind of fond of French. It was exotic. What Ellie did mind was the 'mademoiselle'. The word sounded too...nice for her to be addressed as such. And she wasn't precisely sure what it meant. Just female? Yes?

"I don't reall-" Hey! He found it amusing when she tried to copy Stryker? That was...Heh. "Unfortunately for you, then, my French vocabulary's nearly nonexistent." It pretty much only consisted of what she heard the Groundskeeper say. Actually, it very much consisted of only what she'd heard Chad say.

....Mind reader. Ellie pouted...for a brief moment. "Fine. I'll let you bask in your growth spurt.......for one dance." Treyen actually made it all the more tempting to stand on her toes.

And Stryker was talking again. Ellie merely listened, rather than watched. Her eyes were too busy with the Lockhart in front of her.

Move around the room? Just...move? No music, Stryker. "You leading this time?" She didn't have a doubt in her mind that he would.

"I-I...don't?" she asked, taken aback a bit by his assumption. Kurumi never thought that she really radiated dancer - unless you wanted to look at kendo as a form of dance, which it could be a time with its foot work and sharp movements. In fact, her brothers were often telling her that it was the most complicated dance routine they ever learned, which wasn't really saying much considering that they all had two left feet. And then he was sliding down the wall and...sitting. Kurumi frowned a bit as she looked down at him. "I...can't really follow suit if I don't have a partner." She looked at him sheepishly. Perhaps some small part of her was picking up on his flirtation, but it certainly wasn't the conscious bit. Boys literally had to be declaring that they loved her before she realized that they had feelings for her - like last term...which had been awkward.

Her hair?! OH MERLIN SOMETHING WAS HAPPENING WITH HER HAIR. Kurumi ceased her tugging, failing to notice his slightly awkward dance-arm-jab towards her, and pulled her ponytail in front of her face. Nope, nothing strange happening...at least not at the moment. "W-W-W-What makes you think I did something to my hair?" she asked, only slightly panicked now. "I...just brush it..." A lot thanks to her mother insisting on at least one hundred times in the morning and another hundred in the evening. Could they stop talking about her hair now, please? Before something DID happen.

She took a deep breath and tried to compose herself. "You mean Chorophobia," she corrected, with a slight giggle to her tone. "And I suppose I have a fear of it because...I haven't had a proper dance before..." And some more awkward silence. Wait, had he been asking something different. Perhaps he had been asking about what she had asked him? "Oh, you meant something else..." she said as a deeper blush appeared on her cheeks. "I, um, well....you are sitting on the ground..." she continued looking down at him. "I don't think...I'm the only one with Chorophobia." She giggled a bit this time.

"I'm...Kurumi...by the way," she said with a slight bow.

Her eyes then glanced back towards the dance floor. Well, she had already stepped on this boy's foot...so she had already jumped that hurtle, right?

Oh ooops, she had completely spaced out for a minute there...just thinking. She shook her head to refocus. Right..dance class..dance partner..Jonathon..waltz. She nodded at him as he took her hand and gave the boy a reassuring smile. Hey now, she didn't have horns there was no need for him to be nervous around her.

She positioned herself in properly and rest her left hand on his shoulder blade, then gave the hand that he held a little squeeze, just to let him know it was okay and she wouldn't break if he held her, no would she bite."Yes I have Jon..relax...have fun." She winked at him and let him lead. Slow and steady now Jon.

"I do believe we are doing very well thus far." He continued just so there wouldn't be any of those awkward silence moments while they waited for further instructions. They were doing very well, but they hadn't done much, so there really hadn't been many opportunities to mess up so far.

Aspen hadn't thought of bowing at all. She wouldn't have known what to do if Eino had bowed, so his own worry was for naught. "A very tall chicken," Aspen allowed, then very discretely flapped her own elbows. Teehee.

Ahh directions. So... basically... one needed to be a legilimens in order to be a good dancer. How else was she supposed to guess which direction Eino would go? "Maybe you could flap a wing in the direction you're going to step?" Aspen suggested.

Eino chuckled when Aspen called him a tall chicken and then again when she flapped her elbows. He wasn't that much taller than her, but he supposed tall enough to be considered very tall. Or maybe she was talking in comparison to an actual chicken, in which case he was much, much, much taller. He then paused for a moment and listened to the instructions, which were fairly easy to follow. Eino turned his attention back to Aspen who had a splendid idea. "Brilliant!" He agreed with a firm nod, nearly hitting her on the head with his own head without even noticing it.

Now, onto the waltz! "We ought to move in a triple meter, so that means three steps. He informed her, just to confirm, before they began. He first jerked flapped his right arm wing, then took one step forward with his right foot. He then did the same with his left arm and foot. Lastly, he took moved his right arm, then took a step backwards with his right foot. Two steps forward, right and left, then one step back with his right foot. There, three steps. While they danced, he hummed to one of the few waltzs he knew, and tried not to look at his feet. Hopefully Aspen didn't mind, the humming... and the staring.
