Post J.K. Rowling, 'Cursed Child' script book win at 2017 British Book Awards

J.K. Rowling received the Outstanding Contribution to the Book Trade at this year's British Book Awards, which took place in England on Monday evening. The script book for the eighth installment of her series, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, was also awarded The Bookseller's Bestseller of the Year.

While the author was not in attendance at the ceremony, Rowling did release a statement, noting how overwhelmed she was by the recognition.

Quote:
J.K. Rowling: "Twenty years ago I would hardly have believed I'd have a book published, let alone an accolade as wonderful as this."

"Tonight is really all about you, the booksellers, without whom of course there would be no bestsellers.

"I want to thank you all for supporting my books throughout the years - this award is really for you! Thank you!"

Even though I didn't like it as much as the other books and movie, it's great she won! Jo is our queen and I'll cheer for her no matter what.
