Finally able to evade that darned beetle Diggy was able to leave the common room once again. And he certainly wasn't paying attention to where he was going he was just wandering.

His hands were shoved in his pockets and he was just going where ever his feet wanted to take him and heading toward the Moving Staircases seemed like a good idea as you never knew where they were going to take you.
