Josephina walked around the room, nodding as she checked the students work; it was rather tedious but there were certain things - after doing this for years - that begin to jump out at you when you realize how blatantly wrong the answer was.

That was not the case with some of these brilliant future Arithmancy experts. "Nice work, girls" she said approvingly, before moving onto the next.

Oh this girl was panicking! Such a young, overachieving mind; much like Fina when she was younger. The girl's worries got the best of her as she set to reworking her calculations. "No, you're not wrong, as you can see, it makes no difference, but I personally find it easier and less room for error if you simplify each name down to a single digit before adding them together. Smaller numbers are much easier to work with, wouldn't you agree?"

Blatant errors that stood out on the page, like this particular Slytherin's work. "My dear! Your calculations are soooo very close to being correct, except on both systems, you misadded the final numbers. Take the first one for instance, you added 1, 6, and 3, which does in fact equal 10, not 11. Good effort though just be sure to pay attention to details throughout the whole calculation not just the beginning."

Another who failed to pay attention to those finer details, but this one unlike Kurumi, added wrongly of those big numbers. At least with the Pythagorean System, which was technically speaking, the more important one.

"As I've suggested to one of your fellow students, Miss Prewett, it is advisable to reduce the numbers from each name down to a single digit before adding them together. It doesn't appear to make a difference, but the numbers are easier to work with and less room for addition errors, as seen in your Pythagorean calculation." Fina explained to the girl. "Please check your addition on that particular system especially, as I think you'll find the number to be incorrect. Good work otherwise though"

As she finished, she raised her hand. "Professor Hadley? Do master numbers count with the telephone system?" if she wasn't mistaken, eleven was one of those, and she definitely had an eleven in there.
Ah Ravenclaws; Josephina was sure that the fourth year had a number of questions turning in her brain - like what was the point of doing this with the telephone number system? Or does this even matter? But that wasn't the question that was asked.

"Miss Kelly," Fina addressed, mostly to bide her time with creating a thoughtful answer. "Master numbers are only of relevance if it is the number before directly before you reduce to a single digit. For instance, the number eleven needs to appear right before you reduce to the final answer. If it is just one of the components in one name, then it bears no significance and is just, ultimately, another number."

Oh it was that Slytherin Boy again, who seemed to have a similar question as Miss Kelly. Hoping he was listening to her response to Grayson, she looked over the work, eyes bulging at the length of his name. No wonder some kids didn't like Arithmancy; if she had a name like that, well no scratch that, she would probably still like it. But she could definitely understand frustrations about how time-consuming it was... And ...

"Like I've said to Miss Kelly, the number 11 only matters when it comes as the final sum. So you should present your answer as eleven slash two, because it is significant, particular for the core numbers to get a master number for your final sum, as your interpretation will read different from just an ordinary two."

THERE done. FINALLY. Legend rested his head agaisnt the desk. He didn't care if people had finished way before him. LOOOK what he had to do. The Gryffindor didn't even care if some stuff were wrong.
Josephina had to admit she was surprised to see Legend Chosen attempting the calculations; especially after he had tried to coerce her into giving him a slide on doing pretty much any sort of work. Overlooking his calculations, she understood why. Six names, true, but they were all short, minus the first two names. But even they weren't as long as Salander's name who had FIVE names and pretty much all were long, and yet Salander wasn't complaining and his calculations were correct.

"Mr Chosen . . ." She began, making it seem like she was displeased. Which she was, sort of, that he was complaining, when he had little to complain over compared to Salander. Perhaps the two could partner when it was necessary to do some calculations in the future? "I am impressed, first of all. And secondly, in the Pythagorean calculation, on your fourth name, you've made a minor error, as it should be 8, not 5. The extra 3 point difference would bring the final sum to 28, which makes your number a 1." Which actually, from her memory, fit nicely with what Katie had said in her office about him wanting to be king... Or in other words, a leader.



Moving on though, Josephina glanced sideways at the clock. OH NOES! They've ran over the time limit for the lesson! "Sorry to disappoint you all," she looked over at her colleague, Professor Zookara for a moment before turning back and continuing. "But unfortunately we are out of time and the lesson has to draw to a close. Lucky for you guys too, we've decided to NOT give you any homework. However the material presented to you in this lesson is fair game for either the Muggle Studies or Arithmancy final, so don't throw away those notes. Class dismissed."
