She'd only heard stories that genies came out of lamps. And...well.. ghosts were coming out of her peers' lamps. So, she'll take that. And she continued to rub while waiting on Treyen's answer.
There! Right there! Her answer! That's why Treyen isn't allowed to ask her anything, she always had an answer he couldn't contradict. Not that he wanted to, but she sounded right most of the times. Or all the times he'd spoken to Ellie, anyway. Except, perhaps, in Divination.
He had to remember not to do so again. His eyes felt on his forgotten lamp next to him, and shook his head,
"It's just a story" and yes, he understood that stories must have some true to them, but...they weren't getting genies, were they? They were getting ghosts.
