When Professor Lafay inspected Josh's potion, Simon was glad to hear that nothing bad was going to happen. At least his friend got to do it over maybe Josh would pay more attention this time around. But when the professor answered his own question to his fellow Gryffindor and accused him of not paying attention he was shocked. He almost opened his mouth to comment but he'd seen what talking back earned the others.

"I'm sorry professor I had paused to see if my friend needed help," he answered her as he took hold of his bicorn horn once more where he had laid it down just moments before. Sighing as the woman moved onto the others, Simon proceeded to crush it like he was supposed to before putting some on the spoon and walking calmly up to Professor Lafay. The boy having worked out his frustrations with the mortar and pestle.

"May I have a phoenix tear, Professor?" he asked.
