He hadn't forgotten he was in class. Oh, no. In fact, he looked up at the professor and gave her the biggest, cheesiest smile he could ever give.

Plan sidelined by one cockney (was that even cockney?) jibbergabbering Crocker kid. Oi! He gasped in surprise as the older, larger boy yanked his collar, still grasping the parchment tight in one hand.

Maybe this was just as good. "Let me go, you git bully!" he shouted, his free hand going for his wand, drawing and pointing it at the bully. Or maybe at his very FULL cauldron which was by the bully Crocker. Or both. He couldn't tell, shooting over his shoulder like this... "Wingardium Leviosa!"

It wasn't a GOOD defensive spell. But it was one he knew he could do.
