Oh, they had moved on? Right. Dagaz. "The runic number for the Dagaz is 24." She replied. Then she thought. "Professor, isn't the Dagaz's colour light blue too?" She asked. Wasn't the last rune they did light blue? Maybe they were studying light blue runes today..

Blinking, Evelyn sat up and shook her head, putting her focus on the class instead. Hmm, yes she was just making sure HE was paying attention. Anyways, back to the questions and answers! "It's runic number...twenty four..." Yea, what everyone else said. Her ears picked up an answer however not associated with the question given. Which of course, got her thinking. "Isn't it like, a slightly darker shade of light blue though? Or...is it the same?"
"Jera and Dagaz are counterparts," Di said, giving both students a little nod. "Blue for both." Blue. Not specifically light blue. "It's interesting, however, that over the time Jera's predominant links to the harvest, fruition and fertility have caused a good number of rune-casters to claim its colour is, unlike Dagaz's, green. That's the reason some textbooks you come across state green as the colour for Jera."

Di personally believed both colours could serve one equally well, depending upon what a reading or use revolved around.

Gemstones~

They were pretty, shiny and costed lots of galleons. He'd do anything to have those gems in his hands. The soft glistening surface, the way he could see his own reflection in it. Oh, OHHHHHHHHH WORD.

He stared at the professor, perplexed. Each rune has a gemstone? A GEMSTONE?! Willie was now to the point of breathing heavily, drool slowly oozing out from the corner of his mouth. He looked like a canine now. And yes, his hand was still stuffed back there.

"Is there... any way to get them gemstones? No' sayin' I want them. Oh nooo, ma'am. I be... uhh... wantin' ter see them! Yeah, tha's right. See them. Yu know... look. Stare. Admire 'em. Them pretty... lovely gemstones..."
Heaven help her. Or something. Because this kid... this kid needed to go back to his dormitory and nevercomebacktoherclass. Not that Di did not like teaching students. She loved it, even if some students could [at times] be difficult. But this boy, wasn't it enough that he had a cookie stuffed down his pants? Did he have to drool, too?

"Yes," she said, resisting the urge to froooown. "There are shops that specialize in the purchase and sale of gemstones and other semi-precious stones, Mr. -" Had he told her his surname? Because if he had, Di had forgotten. That was definitely the least of her worries right now, though. "You can keep the replica on your desk, if you want to." Pause. Take your hand out of... there, child. PLEASE. "Is... err..." How to word it? "Is everything okay?" Di finished uncertainly. Meaning, when!are!you!going!to!take!out!your!hand?

Awkward pauuuse.

Di was so glad for the [sane] distraction, she could have arranged a lifetime's supply of fresh cookies for the Gryffindor girl. "Yes," she agreed. "You're right, it is twenty-four."

Turning to the class in general...

"Miss Hollingberry has brought up something I was hoping one of you would." She smiled, but the smile might have come across as a bit straiiiined. [Di was resisting the urge to check on the odd child. Err, Willie.] "Jera and Dagaz are inter-connected." Counterparts, yes. "Remember, twenty-four hours in a day - that's Dagaz - and twelve months in a year - that's Jera."

He liked rich.

"Professor....." Fletch raised his hand and was about to ask a question when his attention was drawn to the boy from his House and year....

...who just happened to have his hand down his pants. Erm. Fletcher looked away quickly, pretending to have not seen in the hopes that that would help him forget what he had actually seen.

"Yeah I was just gonna ask that," he muttered toward the Professor, making a little shield with his left hand so that Willie was no longer visible, even with peripheral vision.

Merlin that kid needed help. And that meant something coming from the boy who ate sandwiches off the floor and cookies out of his hair.

Di looked up. "Yes, Mr. Fletcher?"

... and then she made the mistake of following the boy's gaze [it wasn't her fault, he had looked away pretty, pretty suddenly so Di turned her head to look too] and seeing the Odd Child all over again.

Merlin.

"There are shops that specialize in the trade of gemstones," Di looked away from Willie, to Fletcher. She had thought Mr. Fletcher was the odd kind [he ate cookies out of his hair, after all] but now that she saw the look the Champion gave the other Hufflepuff, she realized that he didn't even come close to his housemate, on the Oddness Meter.

Back to the lesson. Yes, back to the lesson.

"The tree that represents Dagaz is Spruce. Does anyone know the related gemstone?"
