Yeah... didn't Mia just say that she wasn't interested in hearing about his life? He was never good at shutting up though. It was a problem of his. Once he started talking he just kept going... and going...

"My mum taught me how to make pies. And omelettes." he said. "But that is really as far as my cooking skills take me." Although... he did make something with Destiny that sounded like a sneeze.
"Oh. That's cool." he said. "What's it like having fresh food from right outside? I've always wanted some... but my parents are too busy to keep a garden."

As Carter went to explain what had happened anyway, obviously he wanted to get it off his chest, Mia was trying to take it all in but it all seemed very complicated and it made her head hurt. "You don't need to apologise to me, it sounds like you have a lot on your mind. I have a feeling there is more to the story here but from the little I do know, I take it you kissed Destiny in front of your girlfriend and now she is mad, right? Does she know that you were under the influence of a love potion?"
Mia ran her fingers over the petals of the small flower before handing it out for Carter. It wasn't going to solve all his problems but she was hoping it might cheer him up some.
Well at least Carter knew how to cook some things. Mia chuckled a little, "At least that is something. My mother cannot even boil water very well and so cooking lessons from her was not a good idea. I'm good at preparation but not so much with the cooking." She shrugged her shoulders, it wasn't like she was preparing on cooking for anyone anytime soon.
"Hmm I guess it's alright. I don't know any different so I have nothing to really compare it to. I do know that it is a lot of hard work. My family are in charge of the cattle. I think it's because my father is a wizard and he uses magic to subdue the animals when it's time to...you...know..."
Eat them! But she couldn't bring herself to say it. Mia knew it was the way of the world and it was needed for survival but there was no way she was eating something that she had helped look after.
"But yeah we never really go without unless we suffer from droughts or floods but that rarely happens." It had never happened while Mia had been alive but she did remember Artie telling her of tales when they were almost starving but she had a feeling he had just been talking that up to make her work harder.
