She just went falling... flailing through the air with nothing to stop her...
Sienna (for that was now what she thought of herself as) woke up with a start, as her nightmare came to an end. Her throat was dry and her heart was pounding. Letting out a quiet sigh of exasperation she clambered out of bed. Sienna eyed the alarm clock sitting upon the bed side table.
5 am. She couldn't believe it. The dream had stolen another good night of sleep from her.
The girl crept across the room toward the light switch, doing her best not to trip over anything. Once she turned it on, she did a quick survey of the room... just because. That dream made her paranoid. Everything seemed to be in place. Shrugging the paranoia off, she made her way over to the closet. She might as well get ready for work, while she was awake. Sienna pulled her uniform on numbly, like she'd done nearly every day since she'd arrived there, and pinned the name tag on her chest.
She looked at herself in the mirror on the wall, staring placidly. The woman wasn't quite sure what to think. If it hadn't been for the mussed hair and the blank expression on her face she was so famous for, Sienna would have looked very pretty. At the moment, if she could be described with one adjective, though, the one to go for would be tired.
Not liking what she saw, she turned her back on the mirror and made a grab for the standard white tennis shoes. They were standing by the closet door.
As she pulled them onto her feet, Sienna noticed something funny, though. Not funny as in amusing... funny as in odd. She didn't recall ever leaving money in her shoe...
Or paper for that matter. Slipping it off her foot, Sienna pulled the paper out. The time is at hand. Her eyebrows creased as she read the words on the note. Melodramatic, much? Sienna thought she might know what this was about at the sight of those words. She didn't want to jump to conclusions though. And she definitely didn't want to give herself any false hope.
She was not disappointed though. As the letters began to rearrange themselves she nearly squealed. Her eyes widened a little when she finished. So it was time. Revenge time.
Slowly, a grin formed on her lips. Unable to contain her excitement, Sienna dashed out of her room and into the hallway, one shoe on and the other off. Her sister's door wasn't far from hers, thankfully. Sienna did hesitate outside of June/Jessica's door, but it wasn't long before she convinced herself that she would want to hear the news ASAP... That she was doing her a favor.
"OIIII!" She raised her fist to pound on the wooden door. "Jessicaaaa!" she sang, in a cheerful voice that sounded almost unnatural coming from her lips. "I need to tell you something!"
June, or Jessica as she now called herself, had been having quite the odd and rather frightening dream. This dream was a weekly occurence, as if it was some sort of post-tramautic stress response to a previous event in her life. The dream was the same every time: she and her twin were being tossed through a black veil, where they fell and fell into what seemed like everlasting cold, black nothingness. She had awoken, her heart pounding against her ribcage, wide, tired eyes staring at the doorway, where the sound of Sienna (formerly Sydney's) voice rang out. Her sister had saved her from another decision: whether to keep falling and see what would happen in the dream or to wake up from fright and act the timid person that she was known to be.
Swiping a hand quickly through her dark, brunette hair, Jessica felt slight traces of perspiration on her forehead. Quickly collecting herself, she called out, "I'm coming!" Tossing off the thin, cotton sheet that she slept under, Jessica swung her feet onto the hardwood floor and noticed something rather thin and papery flutter to the ground, as if it had been placed under her covers while she slumbered. A rather inquisitive look passed over her exhausted features as she bent down to grasp the small piece of parchment and slowly unfold it. Hearing a rather impatient foot-tapping coming from the hallway, Jessica stuffed the note into the chest pocket of her lilac-colored pajamas and schlumped along towards the door, figuring that she would solve the mystery of the note at some other time.
She grasped the rusted doorknob and opened the door, a loud, protesting creak coming from the old hinges. Jessica was further perplexed as she saw the odd look on Sienna's face. "What happened?" She asked, her eyebrows rising to form a rather puzzled expression on her soft features. "Don't tell me we're about to get evicted again," She stammed rather worriedly.
