Preston leaned forward, resting his hands on the table. "I take behavior very seriously, but I am not unreasonable." He sat back up, leaving his hands where they were.

"That is all, Miss Hughes. You may go."

Turning to the door, having heard yet more knocks, he flicked his wand to open it, and called out, "Come in!"

"Thank you, sir," Carin got up from her seat and turned towards the office door. She was grateful for the help being offered, but she had a feeling she'd still try to cope with things on her own. She was the independent kind of person, after all.

But she'd not get into trouble again. No sir-ee, that was not going to happen.
