He leaned back in his chair before adding, "Is there anything else I can do for you?" Quote:

"I'm sorry to bother you, proffessor, but I was wondering if you had any books on animagus" she started, "You see, since my first year I have been studying to be an animagus, and I still need a bit more studying. The Headmaster said that if I study well enough then perhaps b the end of my fifth year I could be an animagus." This was always a popular topic, particularly at the beginning of the year. "If you study, then yes, perhaps you will be able to work toward being an animagus. But, not only do you have to study that particular topic, you have to be well-versed in Transfiguration as a whole subject before I will consider lessons."
Considering the young girl, he leaned forward. "My personal books are not a lending library, though if you assure me that you have exhausted the available material in the library, I will see what I can find." Quote:

"But, sir, as much as I know that that's the right thing to do, what about what people think about me? I mean, other students. You heard Enya accusing Skye of telling on the fight - if I went to get a teacher, she'd have done the same to me, and a lot of other people would have agreed with her. It's not fair. I mean, how are you supposed to tell if you can handle a situation like that by yourself and without getting into trouble, and when you can't?"
She stopped talking, thinking that she was rambling way too much and she wasn't even sure she was making any sense any more. But on the other hand, this was a question that had been bothering her for a while; how can you judge that effectively? Perhaps Professor Kingsley could shed some light on the matter, so that next time she'd be able to react to Enya without ending up in a teacher's office again. "You can always walk away, Miss Hughes. Knocking over that food onto her was not the only possibility. That is what I take issue with. In no scenario, whether you thought you could handle it by yourself or not, was that an appropriate action."
He considered her other question. "Miss Hughes, the right thing is not always the popular thing. It is an unfortunate lesson that you would do well to learn now, before you are faced with a more difficult situation. When trouble arises with your classmates, yes, do try to handle it yourself. But, if your first attempts do not work and the only thing you can think of is retaliation or some sort of inappropriate behavior, then your next step is to get a prefect or a professor."
Taking a breath, his face softened. "And yes, Miss Mayberry may have yelled at Miss Althiem. But who got to continue on with their evening and who had to go to the dungeons? It is better in the long run to do what's right and have those who are wrong be upset, than to do what is wrong and get yourself in trouble."
