In a large room, the entire Wizengamot (you all suddenly remember this term), stands around the edges of an enormous dais. The Charlotte in the Glass is being frog marched up the steps of the dais by two beefy men in black robes, but she is not going easily. She's jerking about and attempting to tear herself away from the Aurors but, each time she wrenches an arm free, one of them grabs her about the waist. She almost gets away once, when she crashes her forehead into the nose of one of the Aurors, who releases her completely to clutch at his newly broken nose. Another Auror from the lineup behind them, however, marches forward to take the place of his injured comrade.
Eventually, with much screaming and clawing, the Aurors manage to drag Charlotte up the steps of the dais where a solitary archway stands, a curtain fluttering in the wind. Except there is no wind.
Looking proud, the Charlotte in the Glass is marched directly up to the archway and--after more struggling, is finally hurled through the curtain. And she doesn't come back out the other side. Beryl watched as the scene unfolded in front of them, but as she saw the girl who had used to be her friend being dragged towards the veil, her eyes widened and she turned and buried her face into the closest person to her - this time happening to be Jeffery. She didn't want to watch her friend when she was like that, and she certainly didn't want to wait to see herself go the same way. She couldn't believe such horrible things were inside the Ministry of Magic.
