I'd like to add something to the first post based on what people have been commenting. The staff recommendation is merely intended to buoy up the participation claims. I've already been asked to write one, and it literally says "So-and-so has attended at least two classes over 7 terms." If you attended someone's classes, you can ask them to recommend you. They will only say no if they cannot recall your participation.

thats it exactly. it depends on how you make your characters, but to me i always found it easiest to just create one with all their quirks and their histories and whatnot regardless of house. this time its easier because you have all this freedom and the hat will adjust according to your charrie's personality, not the other way around
