He didn't care about the journal! He cared that he'd not come sooner to meet his new friend in the whole school!
Where was Phineas?! Where was his Niffler?! He felt devastated that it'd been so long and it isn't until NOW that he shows up.
Treyen noticed the cage, and a little furry thing inside it. That must be Phineas. Such a wonderful thing! But, it seemed to be sleeping...and Treyen didn't want to disrupt his sleep. Oh, no.
Yet, as soon as he started to walk away, Phineas nose started to move a little. Uh-Oh. Treyen didn't have anything metal on him, did he? Nope. We're good to go! The thing was not sleeping, it was, apparently, bored, and resting. Soooo,
"You're Phineas! And, I'm Treyen"' he smiled, waved at the creature,
"I'm supposed to take care of you" supposed, supposed, supposed, but he didn't come until now,
"And, you're going to see me rather often" he nodded, and the niffler sniffed something and tilted the little head to one side.
Er, was the little creature understanding anything Treyen was saying? Probably not.
But Treyen took him in his hands, because he was little enough, and gave him some food, or what he thought was food for a niffler, just some milk, because that's what you feed dogs and kittens, and crup...so, perhaps nifflers too?
Either way, the boy decided to write in his journal what he seems to be observing while Phineas drank some milk.
So, Phineas only ate, sniffed a bit, and then...back to sleep? Oh, man, Treyen had to come more often and made this niffler...an active niffler.
Treyen smiled, and left the Nursery.
