So, his wand was made of Willow. And that's why he decided on trying to figure out a way to get his rune set from this amazing tree. True. He could've chosen the branches he saw on his way over from that Olive tree, but if nothing went well, then he'd take those.

The little boy stood at a very safe distance from the Whomping Willow and eyed the tree intently. Treyen was thinking, but he had no idea how on earth could he get a piece of the tree without being sent back to school from one of those strong branches.

He didn't need much wood, just a tiny branch will do, after all, he was making his own rune set, it could be smaller than the regular ones.

But...what to do?

Treyen could ask the tree...nicely...right? But will the tree listen to him from this long a distance? Probably not, which meant he'd have to venture a bit closer.

Taking one single step after the other, the boy took out his wand, as a symbol of it being the same sort of wood, because he really had no idea what to do with his wand if the tree managed to knock him down. So, yes, little steps, and a smile. "Excuse me, Mister Whomping Willow, would you be so kind as to..." he said, in a whisper, still at a safe distance, he was practicing on what to say. His eyes focused on the tree now, "...as to...as to let me have an itty-bitty tiny little branch, you see, I need to make a rune set, and what better way to make it than to make it from a wood to match my wand, right?" he wasn't whispering anymore, but he didn't even noticed that.

The little Lockhart cleared his throat, and the hold on his wand was rather tight, until...'Crack'. A little branch fell from the tree to its roots. His eyes wide in shock as he noticed one of the big brances knock the little branch away.

Yeah. He wasn't getting any closer now, his steps were going backwards. If that was what happened to a little branch, what could happen to him if he got any closer? Treyen was certainly not ready for this. He put his own wand away and took the little branch from the floor. It was little but he'll make it work.

A few more steps back, eyes on the Whomping Willow, and...NOW...he was out of any danger. AWESOME! He looked at the tiny branch, which seemed to be in a very damaged condition, as if hurt by someone else. So, perhaps this was one of the few branches that the Whomping Willow was eventually going to remove from itself before spring came. He was lucky.

And happy to be alive.

With the Willow branch he left, off to cut and carve.
