Listening to Arya's reasoning he could understand why she would be hesitant to to try this. The knives were super sharp.

"You know I wouldn't let anything happen to you." And he wouldn't but then again accidents do happen and he could not be everywhere at once. Best not let the students know that though otherwise they wouldn't have any confidence at all.

Giving her a broad smile, Lawson gently took the knife out of her hand and picked up another carrot.

"Right place your fingers on the carrot and then tuck them back out of the way. Place the flat part of the blade against your knuckles, they will act as a kind of shield for your fingers. Then slowly bring the knife down onto your carrot."

He looked up at Arya to make sure that he was following what he was doing and then without taking his eyes off her he continued to slice the carrot. "Just move your fingers down the carrot as you slice." When he had finished, he held out the knife to her, handle first. "Now you try it."

As he stepped away to give her some room, Lawson looked around the room at the other students. "Evelyn, I will be with you in minute. For those of you who are planning on baking make sure to measure your ingredients precisely otherwise you will find that whatever your baking might not turn out properly."
