"Then they most be talking for offical reason and why can't we go to Hollian to see them at Christmas?" Simon had to lie here. "I'm going to Grandma's house for the holiday." She hoped she wouldn't ask why she couldn't because it would be aweful lying to her and he was sad about lying to her as it is.
"Well, I'm sure they have a lot to talk about, the two of them. It's been a long time since they've seen each other, but surely they would be finished talking by now!", Antonia said. She was getting really frustrated. "It feels like somebody is toying with us, keeping something away from us that we really should know, and I don't like it at all! What is this secret that they don't want us to know about?"
Antonia listened as Simon said he was going to their grandmother's house for the holiday. "Lucky you, I'm stuck here at this awful old school for the whole holiday season," she grumbled. "What did I do to deserve this? Does my dad hate me now or something?" She wiped a tear from her eye. She seldom cried and liked to pretend she was tough, but this was really getting to her. She brushed it aside with the sleeve of her sweater, hoping that Simon hadn't noticed.
