Dakota then left the male at the door, so he could close it himself. Be all manly.
aAnd then she looked at her children and she sighed -- how had she gotten here? She had had a promising future. And now... this. Living on council benefits.
"Kids... This is... Lorelai.. and another kid. Lorelai this isss..... Cara, Tinsley, Logan, Donovan, Kiwi and Sundae." And they were her kids. Her six kids, that stopped her from getting somewhere. SHE could have been an actress right now, in HOLLYWOOD. But no, she had had December Baby so young. FLAIL.
Lori smiled softly at the woman and then walked into the house ... if you could call it that, squalor seemed better. As she shared introductions with the other kids, Lori nodded taking each kids name in.
"Hai KIDS!" She grinned, ruffling at one of the kids (Donovan's) hair.
"Take a seat, please.. So... Why ARE you here?" Dakota raised an eyebrow, shooing the kids with one of her hands and then taking a seat on one of the sofa's.
Lori nodded and quickly headed over to the other sofa, opposite to the one Dakota had taken a seat on, knowing that Adam would join her sooner or later. After hoisting the boy (Donovan) onto her lap, Lori looked over at her birth mother and nodded. "I.. uh.. Well. I think you're my birth mother, Dakota. I was born December 13th, or so I was left outside Northway Orphanage, 16 and a half years ago. I believe YOU left me there."
So she was...
She WAS December Baby. And she had grown into such a lovely looking girl, something Dakota would have been proud to raise, and she was certainly a natural with children. Donovan had taken a REAL liking to her.
Dakota's head bowed when Lori finished speaking, and she sighed once. "I.. umm... It was me..,. I was young, you gotta understand that kid."
"Thank you," Adam said, smiling softly at Dakota, and then at the kids as he stepped into the hallway after Lori. He felt kind of daft as they went futher into the house, leaving him behind, but he closed the door behind him nonetheless. Keeping his hand on it until he heard the soft click, he then removed it and turned around, taking his first proper look at the insides of Dakota's 'house'.
Although he felt mean thinking it, he couldn't help but hardly see this place as a home. He felt sadness for the family, felt sorry for them, the tiny children who had to live like this. Just catching the intro's he raised a hand in the childrens direction, his grin wide again.
"Adam," he said, both to the woman and to her children. And partly to himself. To remind himself that he was still him. That he was still Lorelai's AddiePants, and whatever happened right here, right now wasn't going to change it.
He was rubbish with names, and was therefore not going to remember the names of all of these children, but as he walked slightly behind the oldest boy towards the sofa Lorelai ocupided, he ruffled his hair slightly as he past him. Lorelai's brother? Half-brother? Adam could see him as a lad, not unlike himself, good-looking, strong. It was a shame how he was growing up. How they all where.
Standing by Lori, but not sitting down, he felt more protective at his now-six foot three stance, and he listened to his girlfriend and her mother talk. Not much he could say, really. He felt kinda outta place.
