Denial Or Conviction
A pair of green eyes stared the high ceiling in his study sitting in his arm chair, his hands clasped against his stomach and sitting in his arm chair. It had been 3 days since he last was at the Burrow and Shaun hadn’t left his old ancestral mansion since then.
The news of his friend had shaken him when Sara told him but somehow later he didn’t feel it was true. The feeling of sadness and depression didn’t take over him somehow. This made Shaun think again. ‘why am I not sad and worried?’ ‘why don’t I feel a thing?’ ‘what could this mean?’
Shaun sat there thinking over his thoughts and feelings. He closed his eyes and with every passing second he was becoming firmer and firmer at his beliefs and his instincts stronger. The only way he could confirm his feeling was by going there. He got up making his arm chair rock a bit. He walked out of his study grabbing his cloak which was laying there on the headrest of the couch for past 3 days, his boots clicking.
As soon as he left the room the devoted house elf came and bent but before he could ask anything Shaun shook his head and passed the hall and headed towards the door.
Closing the door firmly behind him he closed his eyes and pop…
As he arrived at the Burrow, Shaun had his jaw set and his eyes serious ablaze. He knocked the door and faced an apron tied Mrs. Weasley. “oh hello dear”
He gave a curt nod Hello Mrs.Weasley, where cani find Sara? he asked in a buisness sort of voice “Sara is upstairs with the girls”
He nodded and walked straight through the kitchen and then living room and then towards the stairs leading to the girls room. Molly looked at Shaun’s retreating back a bit amazed as he had a very serious face.
Just as he reached the room he saw Ginny and Hermione coming out he gave them a curt nod and held the door knob before it could click and close itself. They returned back a nod and silently walked down the stairs sensing the tension.
Shaun entered the room to see Sara sitting on Ginny’s bed with her study things all around. She was bending and writing over a hardboard on her parchment. All rough parchments were scattered on her bed with structures and calculations and diagrams and instantly the serious look from his face evaporated and his eyes turned soft and a small admiring smile played on his lips. It reminded him of their school days as Rahul and he would be fooling around and she would finish her homework with full concentration. He walked softly towards her bed and Sara didn’t seemed to have realized someone’s presence, only when she straightened up to dip her quill in the ink bottle which was at her side on the table that she saw Shaun standing near the bed. A surprised Sara left the quill dipped in the bottle and hurriedly got up and went and welcomed Shaun with a hug. “Hey, nice to see you back” she said as she hugged.
Shaun was slightly surprised. He hadn’t expected Sara to welcome him like that after his last unceremonious departure. But he hugged her back nonetheless and smiled at the warm feeling of the hug. She backed out a bit and then with a little glance at him she turned and busied herself with clearing the other side of the bed so that he could sit.
Clearing the bed and stacking her papers and books on the nearby table she turned and saw Shaun sitting on the bed. She smiled a bit but kept silent. She had no idea what he was here for and the silence between them was getting very awkward when she decided to break it. “um…well Harry and Ron are at Wizarding Wheezes if you” but she stopped a she saw him shake his head “no, I came to see you and talk to you” he said “oh” she said and she clutched the edge of the table from behind her as she had just began to guess what he would have come to talk about. But she let him come out with it himself.
After a lot of thinking over his words Shaun began “Sara, I don’t believe” he said and looking up at her. “I don’t believe that Rahul isn’t alive” and ‘Bingo’ Sara thought and sighed, her head bent down. But she didn’t say anything and waited for him to continue “I don’t know. I have been thinking about it but seriously I am not feeling anything, anything as in no sadness at all, no depression, no nothing” he said shaking his head “you are just in shock” Sara said softly looking down at the wooden floor and Shaun shook his head “No, I was in shock yeah, you are right but initially but now no, nothing I can feel. I know my instincts Sara, they have never betrayed me and they tell me that Rahul is still alive, very much alive” he said positively.
She felt her heart rip at his optimistic tone. Sara looked up and saw his eyes pleading her to believe him. She looked away not able to see it in his eyes and the hurt that it was reflecting on his face.
He looked at her look away and he knew she didn’t believe him. So he spoke again, a voice much firmer with his conviction and his eyes ablaze with his belief “Ok, you don’t seem to believe me right?” and Sara looked at him slightly worried at his change in expression “Fine, take me to the place where you buried him and while we are there if I don’t feel anything then I am going to trust my instincts that Rahul isn’t dead” he said the last words with such force that it made Sara flinch.
She nodded though. Pushing herself away from the table she walked up to him and took his hand gently but held it firmly. Shaun got up immediately towering over her. Shaun closed his eyes just after he saw Sara close her eyes and then pop…
Have A Nice Day...
