Told Him At Last…
As the day passed by and it was afternoon when Shaun found Sara walking towards the garden of the Burrow. It was all covered in snow. She had walked up to the fence and looked out at the expanse of the snow covered area ahead of her.
He was in the garage with Mr. Weasley when he saw her. He excused himself and then walked slowly behind her. “Hey” he said
Sara turned and gave a small smile and nodded “Hey” and then looked away at the horizon.
Shaun coughed a bit and then began hesitating a bit. “um…Sara…I wanted to know something last night” he started. Sara looked at him thinking where this conversation was going. If she hadn’t been wrong it would go in the same direction as to which she was thinking for so long… “Hmm?” “um…you know…I wanted to know about Rahul…last night I couldn’t ask you because I was too surprised to see you” he said and Sara sighed ‘Bingo’ she thought.
She looked at him for sometime not knowing what to say and how to break it to Shaun that his best mate was no more.
Sara looked down at her hands and a dry sob escaped her throat.
Shaun looked at her worriedly. ‘what’s wrong?’ he thought.
He put his hands on her shoulder “Sara? what happened?” he asked
Sara mutely shook her head and bit her lip from breaking down again. Shaun was becoming worried with every passing second. Worried, he wrapped his arm around her and Sara sobbed into his chest. ‘This isn’t good’ he thought… ‘not at all good’. After sometime Sara drew away from him and spoke in soft voice “I am sorry Shaun…” she said Shaun looked at her as she drew back and spoke. “has something happened to him Sara?” he coaxed her to answer him. Anxiety and dread was killing him…and just then she spoke… “He is no more” and her voice cut through the still winter air. It sort of took away the oxygen from his lungs.
He dropped his hands from her shoulder and closing his eyes and shook his head. “I am sorry, Shaun, really am…I had met him a couple of times over the war, coaxed him to come back with me, but he didn’t…didn’t listen, I should have tried harder, I know but…” “No,” He stepped back away from Sara his eyes never leaving hers and then with a swish of his cloak he turned away and walked a few meters away from her within seconds and then ‘pop’
Sara watched Shaun leave with heavy heart. She leaned against the cold wooden fence to keep herself from collapsing her head bent and eyes closed…
Have A Nice Day...:-)
