"Perhaps, that's why this is only our first encounter, Ms., ...Is it 'Miss' or 'Mrs.' Carlton? Let us hope that does not become the standard, though as my writing is hardly what I'd call legible." He said being more self-critical than honest.

"You've been here a while though, aye? Have you meet Mr. Trumbull and Miss McArdle? She's head of Education."

He turned his attention for the moment towards the young lady who just entered the corridor. "Hello, there. New to the Ministry?" H'mm. Maybe they could help her get acquainted.

It seemed sort of weird to be called 'Undersecretary Carlton', so Alexandra decided she'd take the first opportunity she could to correct Claudian. Perhaps the former Senior Undersecretary had been a little more professional when it came to names, but as for Alexandra, she couldn't imagine walking around referring to her colleagues as Mister, Miss, and whatever else they might go by. "Oh, please, call me Alexandra. I've never been one to be big on formalities," she finally said. "...and in answer to your question, I'm a Miss."

She shrugged a little when he asked if she'd been around a while. "Not too long, actually. I've only met....one, two...erm, two departments heads," she admitted, slightly blushing as she talked. "That's not a whole lot, is it? I'm making the rounds, though." She thought about a Trumbull and a McArdle then shook her head. "No, I don't believe I've met Trumbull and McArdle. Perhaps you could introduce me?"
