He only winced at the flying shoe as the heel caught him in various places. She had made him angry. He caved. "We'll be there momentarily," he spoke rather gently as the door to the elevator opened and once again he stepped inside. This time he kept to himself. He knew instantly that he hurt her, but deep, deep, deep down inside, it was really his only way of fighting back from the very letter he read on her desk.
Antigone kept her breathing even although she really felt like letting the onslaught of sobs take over. She wouldn't give him the satisfaction of knowing she was that upset over him. Ugh! She looked down at his shirt sleeve and saw that her tears had been dropping onto his arm for quite sometime. Bloody Hell, now he'd know she was weak for certain.
Trying to keep her voice even, and failing miserably she said, "
Grand." She then sniffled a few times as the silent tears continued to fall. Taking a deep breath she looked up at him, the tears evident and asked blatantly, "
Tell me what I have done to make you hate me so, Ethan. That was really uncalled for..." She then turned her head and watched the wall as they passed the Law Enforcement offices.
