Finally she remembered the last Care of Magical Creatures class, and brought up her wand excitedly praying it would work.

Jabbing in the over all general direction of all the blue birds, she flicked her wrist just the tiniest bit exactly as Cela had taught her. She concentrated her intent on freezing, immobilizing, stillness, for Merlin's sakes she even thought of a giant pause button.
Immobulus!

To her great surprise, all the birds held still in mid flight as if they were hummingbirds and merely flying in place obscuring her from view.

Letting out a small sigh of relief amazed that it had worked, she used the opportunity of having them all frozen in a cloud of around her, and suddenly had an idea.

Looking down at her shoes, she pointed her wand and quietly used the charm they'd learned. "Geminio."

Leaving the clone shoes right where she'd been standing just a second ago she hoped that the prefect would see her shoes there and assume that's where she was.

Moving to the side but still covered by the birds, she aimed her wand at the floor right in front of Gold and cast a quick Trip Jinx, thinking maybe the girl would walk forward in an attempt to see through the birds, followed by a whispered "Muffliato" hoping maybe this time it would work.

In the mean time, Ivory brought up her shield once again ready for anything.

Ivory was good, for her age. Gold gave her a cheerful nod of approval, as the Ravenclaw took care of her stone-foot, and brought it back to normal. That was good!

She was surprised when Ivory decided to just go ahead and freeze the birds. Most people she knew tried to knock them down and, well, that was exactly where they failed. You couldn't really slow down so many birds. So yes, Ivory's move had been clever.

But then she couldn't exactly see clearly and... oh, there they were, Ivory's shoes. But, wait a second, they didn't seem to have legs! Gold peered, confused at this sudden turn of events, and then she felt a whoosh of air, and knew Ivory had used those shoes as a distraction. That had worked, too! Totally surprised her.

Her shield charm had already been drawn up, though, which was the sole reason the Trip Jinx did not make her, well, trip. Fall flat on her face, or something. Because those clone shoes had done quite a wonderful job of confusing her. Bad, distracting shoes! Even though they were quite pretty, you know.

Yes, Gold had time to examine shoes, even during the midst of a duel. Because nice shoes were love. LOVE.

She pointed her wand to Ivory's right, and concentrated on sparks. Big, really bright sparks. They streamed out of the tip of her wand pretty much at once, blindingly and brightly coloured, and rather distracting. Hopefully, that would take Ivory's attention from her, for a second or half, and make the next spell she cast, go unnoticed.

"Rictusempra!"

... and then, of course, she drew up her shield again. If there was one thing you couldn't let go of, in a duel, it was your shield. It really was your best friend, in such a situation.
