Howl just shrugged, the gesture a little too casual to fit with his clothing, “Children are weird. Perhaps you thought it was required of you. Perhaps you were pressured into it. How should I know? But, since you’re all leaping with enthusiasm,” the pyromaniac appeared to be anyway, “it appears we’ll be spending the next two months together. Joyous. Occasion. And it’s not sir,” he stipulated to the mouse-child, “just Howl.”
He turned to Eridia and offered her a bow that toed the line of mockery, “I’ll be off then. Oh,” this was somewhat important, and he turned back to the five children, “you’re not coming with me today. Getting the castle ready and such, it’s really quite a mess. Meet in Diagon Alley in a week? Splendid. I’ll send a letter.”
Having answered all their possible queries and questions, in his mind at least, Howl strode to the Headmistress’s closet, knocked twice before opening the door, and went inside without another word, closing the door behind him even as Eridia lunged for the handle in a manner not befitting a headmistress. When she turned it and opened the door, however, all she saw were a few shelves with her collection of knickknacks. Howl was gone. |
