A student walked in just as an owl swooped into his office. The thing landed right on the desk and imperiously stuck out its leg.

"Good Morning, Professor." Severia said, being the first bold enough to step up to the door. "My name is Severia Gaunt. At the feast, you asked me to report to your office first thing this morning, as I am sure you remember. I heard you mention needing a secretary. I would be more than happy to help you if you like." He waved at the student to sit down and listened as he untied the letter and began reading. As the owl took off it had the audacity to land on right on the top of his head. Professor Duskurk's eyes flashed red and he scowled, menacingly.
"Go fetch me an owl from the owlry," he demanded and shooed the girl away.
Obviously the girl would obey him without question so he ignored her as he cleaned his head with a simple incantation and began penning a response. "Next!" he called as he was signing his name.

"Jello..." he said and scrutinized the girl as if she weren't worth remembering, though he did. "Yes, it seems you need some practice keeping your things to yourself and out of your food. You are to go to the library and find a spell which will keep your jewelry on your person. When you have discovered such a spell you will take it to the charms professor and ask for assistance in learning it. Once you have mastered the spell, come back and see me. You are dismissed."
Professor Duskurk was neither expecting nor wanting a response, so he waved her away and called out, "NEXT!"
