Roxanna stood in the Great Hall nervously with the other first years. Everyone seemed to know in what house they wanted to end up whereas she had absolutley no idea. Something which she blamed her father for because he hadn't told her anything about Hogwarts or the houses even though he had been a student here ages ago. Fidgeting and wincing for no apparent reasons the little blond couldn't wait for this sorting ritual to be over. Roxanna dreaded that the hat wouldn't be able to place her even though older students had assured her that the hat never failed. The line of first years thinned out as students where sorted into Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, Slytherin and Gryffindor left and right. And then it became her turn "De Rivera, Roxanna!"

Shaking like a leaf of fears, nervousness and anticipation Roxanna walked up and sat down on the stool. The huge hat landed on her head with a slight puffing sound as it fell down over her eyes. And a voice started muttering. "Ah, a De Rivera child. I remember your father. He was a bit of ladies man in his time, all though quite the academic and flier." What?? My father a good flier, a ladies man and someone known for his academic achievements.. Why hadn't her father told her about that?

"In you I see loyalty, intelligence and savvyness. Along with the will to make a lot of friends.. You'd do well in Hufflepuff."

"Your intelligence and thirst for knowlege would also make you fit in well with the studious eagls.. But not that not right either. Slytherin is totally out of the question. A cutie like you would be eaten alive in there...Now i know."

"Why didn't I see it straight away. The good heart, courage, will to stand up for both yourself and others..There is no hesitation where you should end up at all. I'm getting a bit old for this.."

"GRYFFINDOR!!"

Her new house was finally called and she could pull off the hat. Happy and relieved Roxanna moved down to the red and gold lion table to her new housemates.
