A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.
The moment Lavi walked in to the Great Hall, his eyes widedend with amazement. Four tables were lined up next to each other and between two tables was a path towards the Headtable. Lavi looked from left to right, up and down to see all the magnificent details. Everything was perfect! From the candles hanging ghostly in the air to the Enchanted Ceiling that showed a dark sky. Shuffling with the other students, most of them first years, making him feel a little ridiculous, Lavi halted near the Headtable and looked at an old hat on a chair.
He watched as people got sorted in to their rightful Houses and as every minute passed he grew more curious. When his name was being called he looked up in shock. This was it..the moment of truth!. Lavi shuffled silently towards the chair and sat down and waited as the old Hat sat on his head and fell over his eyes.
Darkness was all he saw, just the inside of the Hat. But there was a voice near his ears, a voice that seemed to be reading his mind. "So, a transfer student huh? I have never Sorted a Saitoh before! Well this should be fun, eh?" the voice said. Lavi had the stupid thought of saying "uhuh" but held his mouth shut. "Let's see, let's see" said the voice slowly as though scanning his mind like an dictionary. "I see kindness in your heart yet a mischievious side too. There is a will to prove yourself and loyalty is very important to you.... You would do very good in Hufflepuff but that is not the House rightful for you." the Hat said. "There is also great ambition in your mind...oh yes i know about you and your father, it's all in your mind" Lavi shivered a bit, the thought that a Hat knew what kind of relationship he had with his father was just.....ridiculous! "hmm i see resourcefullness, cunning , curiousity and a desire for money ..yes i know what house you would be in...." Lavi knew that this was it, the Hat was going to shout his House that would be his family for ever. He held the rim of the head tightly in his hands, curious..very curious what House he would be in. "....SLYTHERIN! "
It took him a few moments to realise the Hat had gone silent again and all he heard was the ringing silence in his mind before the outburst on the Slytherin table. The Great Hall was visible again and Lavi jumped off the chair and walked towards the table that shouted the loudest. Not surpressing a grin.
