Chaucer was still feeling a little drowsy and aggravated that his rendezvous with the Norse gods was interrupted. It took him a moment before he quite understood what Kate was getting so excited over.

"Don't be clever, I don't have any..." Chaucer stopped short. Did he have any pictures? He couldn't quite recall... he kept a lot of things in there and often forgot about them. It was after all an odd thing to suddenly bring up out of the blue and was Kellen really so quick as to make a joke while the sleep hadn't fallen yet from his eyes? It was a conundrum: if they were in his pockets, who would they depict? He didn't know any women really and none whatsoever that...

Kellen would obviously either feel upset that his cousin was growing up faster than himself, or be disappointed that Chaucer might one day be forced to spend time in the constant company of another.
