Satine continued petting Niege and placed the Pygmy Puff in her lap. She offered the Puff a jelly bean in case it liked them as much as her chinchilla did.
"Well, then I know what to get you for your birthday this year...an amazing muggle skateboard in Ravenclaw colors with your name on it???" she said it as a question with a smile and she acted like she was writing it down in an imaginary notebook/parchment and then acted like she was tucking it all away in her purse.
She smiled again as he hestantly popped jelly beans into his mouth. Then she had a thought. "Yes they are great and if you like them I could get you some to go with your skateboard..." she patted her purse where she had 'stuffed the parchment from earlier' and then she slightly giggled..."How great would it be to mix in Bertie Bott's jelly beans into these and trick peeps into eating the nasty flavors..." she paused as she imagined this reaction from the poor victim that fell for it.
She was woken up from her mean prank day dream by his revelations about the year..."Well, I'm hoping this year to be number one in points again and to make tons of new friends, as usual...but I feel behind last year...I just had a really off year last year and...for some reason...I can't remember half of it..." she said with a shrug of her shoulders and a slight pause....
She leaned in kind of close to him to indicate she wanted to tell him something like a secret and with a red face whispered as she glanced at the others in the compartment, "And, I'll let you know since you're my big bro....but...I'm....gonna....try...to...well...umm mm...find a boyfriend..." she said the last really fast almost like trying to say it so fast he wouldn't hear it.
Kel grinned at Satine's idea of a birthday gift.
"Do you know how brilliant that would be?" he asked, then, without missing a beat he added,
"Way. I can just picture it now..." And he could. He saw himself riding the skateboard around the courtyard...then Jenn popped up...and he crashed into a wall, tumbled over it, and had to visit the hospital wing.
...Maybe he'd wait until he got home to enjoy the skateboard.
"A skateboard and roller blades?" he laughed shortly.
"You must be trying to kill me." he stated simply, shaking his head. Laughing, he nodded in reply to Satine's prank.
"That would be cruel, I think," he teased, smiling.
"Some person goes, hoping for pumpkin - do they have pumpkin? - and wind up with earwax." he shook his head.
"You're not that evil, are you?" He added with a wink.
He nodded as she talked about her year last year, quietly agreeing with her. He had been really out of everything for most of the last school year. Hopefully, he wouldn't be like that again. When she leaned over to tell him what was obviously a secret, though, he started to listen better.
BOYFRIEND!? Kel's eyes about popped right out of their sockets. He coughed and scratched his nose, trying to stall for time so he could think about what he was saying before he said it. And, so that he could actually get his brain to work enough to say something.
So this is what it feels like to be a protective older brother. he mused, before looking over at Satine.
"I...um...well...do you have anyone in mind?" he managed to choke out. He looked over Satine quickly, and frowned slightly. She was a bit young, wasn't she? ...But maybe that was just Kel's protectiveness speaking.
