Post Potter film-makers donate autographed items to charity

Autographed posters and gifts from the Harry Potter films have been donated to Shopmobility Lochaber, a disability charity based in Lochaber, Scotland, which was recently targeted by vandals who smashed a heavy corrugated plastic canopy wall, designed to protect the shelter from the weather.

The foundation, which aims to 'improve the lifestyle, mobility and independence of people who have either a temporary or permanent mobility problem, by providing a first class FREE hire service of wheelchairs, power-chairs and electric ride-on scooters', is based in Fort William, a location that has been used in the Harry Potter films.

Mr McArthur, from North Ballachulish, said yesterday (Wednesday): "I park my taxi in the rank just across from the Shopmobility office, and am aware of how many locals and visitors benefit from the service provided there.

"When I heard about the vandalism I was so angry, and wanted to do something to try and recover the situation.

"So I've used my contacts and have managed to arrange for Santa to set up a grotto there next Saturday.

"As I work closely with the Harry Potter production teams when they're here in Lochaber I've also managed to arrange for some signed film memorabilia to be sent up in time for Saturday's event. I'm hoping we might be able to auction it off or hold a raffle."
Father Christmas has also pledged his support and will be appearing at a Grotto in the area this weekend.
