The Slytherin had laughed and joked that surely he could do better. Rafe had growled again and it had sounded so realistic that chills had erupted all over her body. It had, embarrassingly enough, thrilled her. Oh my...
Marilyn finally broke eye contact, opting instead to stare down at her clasped fingers. She could've lied to herself and said this feeling bubbling in her chest was fear, but that couldn't have been further from the truth. Rafe would never physically hurt her. This she knew for a fact and could not be convinced otherwise.
When Rafe showed her the picture in his book, Marilyn frowned. Her voice was a mere whisper, even though Muffliato had been used. "So many things make sense now." Suddenly there was so many other things to consider...But if they were to ever be together, did any of this really make a difference? Did it change the way Marilyn felt about Rafe? Absolutely not.
"Suddenly, this trip you're going on seems much more dangerous." Her face crumbled. "Do you plan on returning alive or in a box?"
Marilyn frowned when she looked at the picture. That didn't seem like a good sign. And finally she spoke, like a siren beckoning a sailor to their treacherous shores. Everything about her drew him in. Rafe couldn't help, but laugh at her last little comment.
"I suppose that means you care about my journey, even if I return." Rafe's hands went for hers, but he quickly stopped and put in his lap.
"I doubt my father will kill his heir, even if I'm only..." Rafe still couldn't say it. The vow was pulling on him. He could only speak of it if Marilyn said it first. Said what he was.
"My mum has kept us running all my life and it's time I know why!" Rafe knew it would be dangerous. There was a reason why his mum never went to Romania and he wanted to know. He had to know.
"My father is a part of me, a part that my mum can't explain or even relate to what I go through..." Rafe sighed. He ran his fingers though his hair and stared down at his feet. He began to laugh again, a lot louder than before.
"I thought you'd freak out, I mean it's one thing if I were a muggle-born, ick!" Rafe chuckled,
"But to think Marilyn Force can accept a..." Rafe just smiled, but he couldn't look at Marilyn. It felt like a weight had been lifted now that she knew.
"And who would have thought Rafe Lycaon would be a descendent of royalty?" Rafe slowly raised his head and had a crooked smile on his face.
