Setting the cider aside tenderly, Wesley reached for the gryphon dandruff and began to shake it out onto the measuring spoon. Her first shake was too violent, and the flakes went everywhere. Sneezing into her sleeve, the dandruff-covered 12-year-old very slowly shook them again. After several pain-staking minutes, she managed to acquire the exact amount, and gently tipped it into a spare phial.

"Right." Hesitantly taking the minced heart in hand, which she had been so desperately avoiding, Wesley stared at it, eyes wide in horror. What poor lionfish died for this? Somewhere, out in the ocean, or river, or wherever lionfish's lived, there was a baby lionfish and a mama lionfish, and they where crying. What kind of a person went around cutting out daddy lionfishs' hearts?

Trying to come up with a person, Wesley forgot about the potion, remembering it just as she heard the slosh of the bloodroot being added. Oh! Now it was her turn. Biting her lip, the Hufflepuff extended her arm holding the heart, and turned her head, not looking, as she tipped over the container. Expecting to hear another splash, Wesley was surprised when nothing happened. Looking back, she saw the minced heart hanging on, still sticky from just being cut. Oh no! It's angry, and it doesn't want to go in! It doesn't want to die! Overlooking the fact that the heart was already dead, Wesley opened her mouth to ask if she really had to do this.

But she already knew the answer. She had to. But she didn't want to! But she had to. Because Tiberius had picked her to be his partner; he had placed his absolute trust in her, and she couldn't let him down.

Flinching, the small child shook the container until she finally heard the substance come out. Wesley gulped and quickly added the pretty cider. It seemed to turn pink upon contact with the already added ingredients. Slowly - as the liquid spread throughout, the color bled in, and depending on how she tilted her head, the potion appeared to be much like a rainbow.

Looking at it in wonder, momentarily forgetting about Daddy Lionfish and his mourning family, Wesley spoke quietly, "Now's all we need is the dandruff."

She prodded the phial over to Tiberius just as he had done earlier with the minced heart. With his help, they where actually going to make something. Wesley owed a lot to the Ravenclaw; he deserved to add the final touch.
Tibi had to try really hard not to giggle as Wesley struggled with the heart. He still had a little bit of heart goo on his gloves from cutting it, and so he dared not cover his mouth with his hand. Faking a sneeze instead, Tibi buried his face in the nook of his elbow, biting on his robe to keep from laughing.

He knew it wasn't funny. Just looking at her face, he could tell that the heart made her uncomfortable. And then when it stuck! Priceless.

Once the cider and heart were in, Tibi watched as the potion's color began to turn. Coooool.

Once he was satisfied that it was time, he accepted the phial of dandruff from Wesley with a nod and a smile, before tipping it into the cauldron as well. "Well, that's it. Now.. we let it simmer until the color changes and then wait for more instructions..."

While he waited, Tibi turned back to his parchment and crossed off the final steps.

Purified water, 4 ounces
Fluxweed, two bunches- finely crushed
Lovage pollen - 2 drams
3 lovage seeds, whole
Bloodroot, 3 roots- split lengthwise, scrape inner membrane out
Apple cider, 8 ounces
Lionfish heart, minced
Griffin dandruff, 1 dram

Warm water until just before boiling.
Crush fluxweed with mortar and pestle, add to water. Allow to come to a brisk boil.
Add lovage pollen, stir until dissolved.
Potion should take on a light golden colour.
Stir slowly, alternating clockwise and counterclockwise stirs
bring potion back up to a boil and allow to simmer 5 minutes
Add inner membrane ONLY of bloodroots; do NOT include the tough outer membrane of the root!!!
Add apple cider and lionfish heart; potion should take on an iridescent sheen and a light pink to purple cast
Add griffin dandruff and simmer until your potion takes on a deep pink to red sheen.

DO NOT GO FORWARD, wait for further instructions.
Turning back to the potion, his eyes grew wide as the color deepened to a dark dark rose pink. "Oooo, I think we did it right!" He turned to Wesley and smiled, holding up a sticky gloved hand for a high-five.

But in the back of his head, the realization that he was probably going to have to drink it was starting to return.
