He was pale and extremely tired from last night, the night he missed her lesson.

"I just wanted to apologize for my absence from you lesson, it wasn't a good time for me last night, I was feeling ill." Ill seemed the simplest way to put it because in a way he was. He felt a little uncomfortable as it appeard that half the staff was there.
