Kiri nodded silently. Making sure the boxes weren't bumping against the walls or ceiling, she followed Reese down the stairs. Her feet made soft pitter-patter sort of noise, and as coldness crept into her toes, Kiri realised that she'd forgotten to put on socks or her slippers. No matter. They would be in bed again in a few minutes.

The door into the common room creaked ominously. Kiri hissed disapprovingly, but the room itself was empty. A dull red glow came from the giant fireplace where the last of the evening's embers smouldered. They would have enough light to work with, then. No artificial light was going to be necessary.

Reese already stood next to Lupa's office door. Kiri walked over to her, her wand still held up high. Behind her, the boxes were bumping into each other with gentle thuds. She directed them onto the floor. "Alright," she whispered, leaning in close. "Do you have all of yours? I think it's best if we stack them by hand, I don't want them to fall over or anything." Without saying anything else, Kiri picked up the first and placed it in front of the door.
