Rafe felt like hugging LouAnn for some reason he was happy for her and happy for him. He loved magic, it was such an accomplishment when you did something right. Instead he simply patted her on the back.
Why did he like to cause so much mischief? Hmm... he had never been asked that before. "Well, I suppose I like to test my boundaries and experiment a little bit," Rafe shrugged, "Magic is just so fascinating, it can be...hmm...I suppose useful." Rafe gave a wide smile.
"Hard transition? But, you're so beau...baaaahright. Bright. I mean you seem like a smart girl. You have mad skills with a wand," Rafe bit his lip. "But, I know what you mean. It's been interesting trying to meet people." Rafe forced a smile. "I've tried to take a few risks, but it's a bit hard... a lot of people seem set in their ways. If you know what I mean?" Rafe just realized that he mainly socialized with people older than him. He guessed it was something he was used to, because his mum and him only hung around adults. He only had one true friend his age, and it was difficult getting together because they were in seperate houses.
LouAnn lightly laughed at all the compliments he was giving her. She wasn't used to being complimented so much. She was just plain, ordinary LouAnn---the girl with a weird last name who moved around way too much for her own good. The truth was, LouAnn was afraid she'd struggle at Hogwarts since she hadn't been to a proper school in quite some time.
"Me? Bloody wicked and bright? Hmm...," she remarked. "I've been
home-schooled for the past two years. I imagine I'm at least a year behind those in my year." She shrugged, then headed to the front of the room to dig through the box that housed the ordinary household items. She returned a few moments later with a small, plastic bowl. "Let's try our luck with this. I'll turn it into stone, and you can change it back." She raised her wand towards the bowl and then jabbed it forwards. "Duro!" The bowl made a half spin, then promptly stopped and turned to stone.
