Spotting Mariel, Nia smiled - before sporting an intrigued look directed at the girl that her friend appeared to be talking too. It was certainly an odd choice of accessory for a girl, but Nia was always one for being yourself, and that was the great thing about Hogwarts - it attracted all sorts.
"Room for one more?" Nia asked as she approached and started to slide her bag from her shoulder.
Still looking at the slightly intimidating little girl - which was saying a lot as Mariel did not intimidate easily save the occasional werewolf and of course Kazimeriz - a movement seen from the corner of her eye made the teenager turn her head. The familiar face brightened the fourth year's expression considerably. Seeing so many of her friends her made Mariel realize that she had made the right choice in returning to Hogwarts.
"Nia!" Mariel exclaimed,
"Of course there is..." She gestured to a seat near her for Nia to sit.
"Your hair looks wonderful," she added, wondering if she had continued using the potion she had once lent her yearmate.
"So, did you get to go to any Quidditch matches this summer? ...oh! That reminds me, I got Marco Denver's autograph... He was very nice about it, too" Mariel smiled at the memory. Some of those pro players could be so full of themselves, but she had found him rather sweet.
"He gave me a recommendation on a new broom as well," she added, her smile faltering as she remembered she had not brought said broom with her.

Heaving a great sigh of relief she sat down next to Mariel and couldn't wipe smile from her face. Mariel hadnt changed a bit since the last time Lasca had layed eyes on her. Maybe she looked a little older but she still looked like her best friend.
Grimacing slightly she remembered what she had looked like in the mirror this morning. Over the summer she had gained another inch or two in height, but had still managed to keep her dancers figure. Her hair was twice as long as it used to be and seemed to be streaked with silver all the time now. A small satisfied smirk transformed her features as she thought of that last argument she had had with her step monster. The retched woman had wanted to cut her hair, but Lasca had refused. On top of that she had wanted to die it! Unbelievable.
Shaking out of her thoughts, she turned her full attention onto her best friend. "Hey! I'm wonderful now that your here! And you?"
Lasca turned her head as girl with odd coloring in her hair made her way resolutley to Mariel's side. The young Ravenclaw almost snorted with derisive laughter. Says the girl with silver running amuck through her hair. Quickly she took stock of the objects the girl was carrying and her obvious mood and wasnt surprised at the expression on her face. When Mariel introduced her she inclined her head the girl and said, "Hello."
While her use of the english language had indeed improved she spoke with a distinct Transylvanian accent. Another ploy that drove the step monster insane. As it was her mission to do just that, Lasca was once again smiling at herself and at her wonderful fortune at being back at her beloved Hogwarts.
Mariel returned Lasca's grin, happy to be surrounded by friends again. She watched her carefully as her expression changed and seemed to be lost in thought. Knowing of Lasca's troubles as well as her own, she thought it best not to ask much but grinned in response as her expression changed again to that of a smirk.
"That's good," she said her grin settling into a happy smile.
"I'm alright, I guess... It's good to be among friends. And I really missed you.. It's a good thing we were able to owl each other over the summer though." But she was unable to send her an owl recently to tell her of Professor Forrester's death. That was too painful to put into words. Had Lasca found out? She wasn't sure if she could say and frowned in thought.

Ali nodded with approval at the two girls. They seemed to be of the right sort. Maybe. That would have to be found out. She sat down on her seat in a very unprincess like way. *Plomp* "Yes" she said proudly, not even saying thank you to the girl. But at least she nodded her head at her. Even that must send any person into a state of bliss. But she still had yet ot answer her question.
"I am new here, unfortunately" she said. Then, realizing she hadn't explained and would probably leave a worse impression if she left it like that, said "I wish I was here a few years ago...." She now scowled "When there was an only girls school..." She stuck her tiny chin back up "The boys don't deserve to be here, I'm sure they'll only cause trouble."
For the first time, Ali showed a sign of her true feelings. "Oh whhhyyy do I ALWAYS have to deal with BOYS!" At least, she wasn't yelling the whole sentence. Then, noticing that she was still holding her staff and bow, she slung her bow on her other shoulder and staff seemed to grow shorter for the time being and lent against the table. Ali eyed the hairdye bottles on the staff suspiciously, making sure none of them were leaking.
She then shot a very nasty look at the snorting Ravenclaw.
Mariel looked curiously as the younger girl then sat down. was Mariel that haughty as a first year? Maybe a little, but she thought not that much. Nodding slowly as she spoke, she said,
"Oh, right, that all-girls school was before my time, too. My sister was here then and she certainly complained about it, but I honestly don't see what the fuss was all about." She looked at the girl somewhat appraisingly.
"I agree, most of them are troublemakers," she began slowly, "
but that's a little harsh saying they don't deserve to be here... The teachers just have their work cut out for them with boys, but they need to learn too. They just seem to be slower about it."
The teenage girl drummed her fingers lightly on the tabletop as she then raised an eyebrow at the girl's sudden lamentation. Shrugging as she was not sure what to say to that, Mariel waved her finger up and down, gesturing to the girl's staff.
"So.... what's that about?" she asked, never one to worry about being blunt.
