At this Dora smiled widely thinking of the possibilities of fun. "I really love Defensive Magic most of all but I love the idea of hiding something as large as the Quidditch stadium. After all disguise is my specialty." She said with another smile.
Just then her owl came swooping into the room and Dora squealed as she ran forward to take the parchment off. Unrolling and reading it Dora began to cry tears of happiness. She turned to Silas smiling through the tears and said, "They are fine, everything is okay". Without thinking Dora ran forward and grabbed Silas and brought him into a huge hug. Why didn't he like Quidditch... why didn't he like Quidditch. Well that was the question of the century. His mind churned as he tried to think of a convincing lie, frowning deeply.
But before he could speak, Dora had opened the letter and burst into tears, saying that Melanie and Craig were all right. Well that was a re... OOF.
Dora had pulled him into a hug, much against his will. So there he stood, Dora with her arms wrapped around him, him with his arms firmly, rigidly, attached to his sides. This was far far far too much personal contact for Silas' liking, but he didn't pull away.
Instead, a wave of warmth or kindness or some other unnameable feeling washed over him and he closed his eyes, putting his arms gently around Dora. In his mind, though, he was 10 years younger, holding Lizzie as she cried in his arms. "It's ok.. everything's ok," he whispered. He'd learned later, of course, that everything was not ok; this memory that Silas was so vividly reliving in his mind was the last time he'd ever seen Lizzie... alive.
Running his hand through Dora's hair, he just kept whispering "it's ok... everything is ok..." And just like that moment year ago, with eyes still closed, Silas gently kissed the top of her head.
