PHILOMATH ❅ not one atom, but two ♪ ♪ made of starstuff ❅ def main(): There was WAY too much to do at this time of year. Jake looked absolutely exhausted as he stared at the two piles on his desk, unable to decide which one of them was worse. The pile on his left - the smaller one - or the pile on his right, which was so high he had charmed it to stay up. The one to his left were all the documents that he had completed, and the ones on the right... Ugh, it was too depressing to even think about.
Speaking of depressing... His eyes drew towards the picture on his table of a young teenage girl, and he got that jolting feeling in his stomach once again as he thought of her. Rachel, his niece, was going through a rough patch right now and he couldn't help but be worried sick. She wasn't sleep, barely eating, crying all the time and now she was off at Hogwarts, were she could draw even further into herself since that school was so large, she could make herself inconspicuous. His one small source of comfort was that she was a Prefect and even Rachel's superb hiding skills would not help her since the Ravenclaws would notice if their prefect was suddenly gone.
At least, he hoped they would. The girl was even alienated from her best friend and it killed him that he didn't know why.
Two sudden knocks at the door pulled him out of his musings and he arranged his expression into one of pleasantness, moving the bigger pile to the floor so that he had more space on his desk. "Come in!" he called out, hoping that whoever was there would not come bearing any bad news. He didn't think he would be able to handle it.
