The Carpal Tunnel of Love
Mood; Jumpy.

The Second War came like a carpal tunnel, unexpected but painful, short but devastating. It had eyes of steel, and it spared none, grasping them in its iron claws, and letting go only when they were crushed into death by its cold grip.

The Second War came like a carpal tunnel – and left like a sudden breath of air.

It came as a bolt of lightning, and it burnt beauty, destroyed innocence. It killed love, gave rise to hate, and did what no live conscience can – beget death. But – though it seemed longer, so much longer! – it vanished as soon as it came, vanished as suddenly as it had arrived.

They say life is to expect the unexpected. Perhaps that is true. When the Battle of Hogwarts began to rage, none expected a culmination – a culmination of the battle, yes, but a culmination of the war? No, not indeed. I did not, my friends did not. No one did. But when the culmination came, it was sweetly devastating, beautifully haunting – and unexpected. Very unexpected.

- It was what life is.

The Second War culminated in a victory of Light over dark, in a win of truth over vice. The Second War culminated in the most unexpected of twists, a twist that brought as much cheer as the War itself had brought sadness. The Second War culminated in Potter’s win over that of who was once Tom Marvolo Riddle, in the rise of glow over gloom.

-- The Second War culminated in joy unimaginable, and the loss of the only woman I had ever loved or kissed.
