"Dumb twat probably got himself killed or something stupid like that. Never mind, how am I going to spend my days without someone to amuse me." Teddy sighed. "He'd make a perfect target right about now."

Teddy turned in the split instant of a second, reached behind his back and had flung a knife before he realized someone had knocked and come in. Tiffany, the girl with short black hair and cute kitty ears walked in, as the knife just missed hitting her, thudding as it buried itself in the wood frame of the door next to her cheek. Tiffany sighed, rolled her eyes and continued walking into the room unfazed.

“You’re a wizard, Teddy, seriously. What do you think your wand is for?”

“Waving around,” he replied twirling the end of it and making flowers appear. They fell on the floor all around her.

“I’d volunteer to teach you how to use it, but I fear what danger you’d be then. If you became more apt with your wand, I mean,” the girl replied catching the last flower. It wilted in her hands falling into a small pile of ash at the boy’s feet.

Teddy smiled at that, Tiffany rolled her eyes, and the boy proceeded, “I’m not one of those blokes who thinks the only way to impress a girl is with his wand. I think …”

“The use of excessive violence is the solution to all problems. That friends, like napkins, are disposable. That girls are lap warmers or pretty decor. So, please, spare me the double entendres Teddy D. Bear, I’m well acquainted with your quaint ideas, as well as your other attributes."

"I can kill a man with a stare. I can eat more Peeps than any human alive. I own the complete Beatles collection, in vinyl. I ... Go out to dinner with me Tiffany.”

“I’d sooner eat slugs.”

“Well if French cuisine is your thing …” the boy replied after a pause, “Hey, I put up with Ottery’s poufery, I’m sure I can stomach some creeps or something.”

“They’re called crêpes, and you’re an unqualified, uncultured cretin.” Teddy merely smiled at that, and sidled up to Tiffany who sighed, rolling her eyes yet again. “Ottery has gone missing. Arguably, your best friend. Angel disappeared off the map. As in, we have no idea where he is or where he's working from. There's an evil Dark Lord out on the loose, and his followers are putting everyone in peril. Can you do the math or should I give you the short and swift notes?”

The boy shifted the cigar in his mouth, contemplating for a second if he should correct her -- weren't they called Cliff notes?-- He really didn't know, he'd never used them (why, when you had Ottery? Or you could always tease an answer out of Hermione with a smooth move). He opted not to and took the file away from the girl, all business now.

“This ain’t good. What about the others?”

“You know about Sebastian already, Lord Voldemort wasn’t a part of their group, neither was Grindenwald and he’s still in prison. At the moment, they’re the main threats. Everyone else is either silent or keeping out of sight.”

“Then there’s no need to alert anyone else. I’ll handle this by myself.”

“Typical.” Tiffany replied, “Why are boys so stupid? When are you going to ask for help? When the world is absolutely completely and surely in absolute peril? Do I have to open the Bible and recite you the signs of the end of the world so you know when to follow proper protocols? Or should I …”

“I’m going to be alright, baby. You don’t need to worry. We can still have our dinner date when I get back.”

“Insufferable as,” she exclaimed slamming the door as she left the room.

Teddy smiled.

“She loves me.”

Tiffany would of course have him tailed, and Teddy, of course, would know it and employ every devious tactic at his disposal to lose his tail. Still, it was nice to know she cared.

I've read it countless (seriously countless) times, and I still love it.

*sigh* You truly are brilliant.
