Kiri quickly scribbled one last sentence. She had no idea what her favourite animal was, or if she even had one, but she'd stumbled across a fascinating book on apes in the Library a few days earlier, and some of the remarkable things written in it had clearly impressed her enough to remember them.

Lyra sat nervously on her chair, she didn't had a partner yet and was too shy to ask for one, specially an older student. She watched as the other students found partners and silently hoped someone would notice a first year like her.
Kiri put her quill aside and stood up. Lots of people were still looking for partners, but a quick glance told her that most of the older students seemed to be taken already. She made a quick decision and stepped up to a small girl with a Slytherin badge who was sitting two tables away from her. "Hi," she said friendly. "I'm Kiri. Do you, er, have a partner yet?"
