“Lily, I’m sorry I didn’t tell you. I just thought this would be better.” James sighed.
“You could have told me before you asked Peter to be secret keeper.” Lily said through gritted teeth, her back facing him.
“Sirius is my best mate. It would be obvious if he stayed our secret keeper. But nobody would suspect Peter.” James tried to explain. He ran his hand through his messy jet-black hair, making it stick up even more than before.
“You still could have told me first.” Lily whispered.
James felt like crawling into a hole. He didn’t want to fight.
