Gillyweed looks like a bundle of slimey-grey rats tails, and when it's eaten it gives an individual gills, enabling them to swim underwater. It also gives webbed hands and feet to ease swimming. The effects of gillyweed were first dicovered by Elladora Ketteridge, although Beaumont Marjoribanks is credited with re-discovering it.
