"Well, truth be told I'm not really sure. Your best bet would be to hold on to that question until some professor comes along, but since I don't think that they'd have enough time to answer questions, I could try answer it for you," she said, then tried to think. Why indeed did they have to take their outer clothes off? Hmm...
Oh! I think I got it... "I'm not really sure, but I think it's because of the potions lab. The flooding in the dungeons probably knocked over some potions and they might have got mixed in the water and contaminated your clothing. Maybe they want to collect the clothing just to check that they're not dangerous," she said, putting her elbow on the table and leaning head on her hand as she talked. But, then again, wouldn't the water have diluted it? Rachel made a face as yet another shiver ran down her body, and she almost groaned aloud.
"What? No, I'm fine - just a little cold, I was down there a little longer than everyone else," she replied Laura, smiling slightly at the girl's concern. But, as soon as I muster up enough guts to take off my shoes and my cloak, I'll be fine since I'll run up - BAREFOOT - to the Hospital Wing and take a dose of Pepper-Up potion... Even her thoughts were sarcastic.
Laura smiled at Rachel. Now that
was a reasonable, sensible answer, and it probably was
right too! She had been sitting there for ages, countless thoughts whirring around her head, each one more stupid and outrageous than the last.
"Thanks Rachel," Laura said. "Your probably right, and although the thought worries me, I know the teachers will sort it out!"
Maybe in a few years, Laura would be as clever and logical as Rachel someday! No wonder she made prefect!
Then, turning, Laura saw Jenn. "Hi Jenn!" she smiled, hoping she remembered her, for they had spoken at the Start of Term feast.
