Mari looked over to Elizabeth and then just beyond her friend she saw Robert. Mari's expression of irritation changed to one of distinct discomfort and she looked away quickly. She hadn't wanted to end things the way she had with Robert; She wanted to do it face to face, to come clean about her feelings. However circumstances hadn't allowed for it and she felt decidedly awful about it. She gave a short nod back to Elizabeth as her friend chose to talk to Robert, something Mari didn't like at all, but she knew that Elizabeth wasn't going to give up either friendship. It was going to be messy and she hoped her friend could deal with it if that was her choice. Now she was back to square one, feeling awful and alone, her best friend and the person she cared about most both leaving her on her own for the time being, which was actually all her fault when she thought of it, she realized with a rather forlorn expression.

Mari fiddled with the necklace she wore, looking up at the staff table and wondering when the feast would actually begin so there was at least something else to do besides make awkward small talk with people she didn't know when she realized Cayden was sitting beside her. She could see in his expression that they weren't still on the best of terms at the moment, but she appreciated his presence then. It only increased her guilt over her outburst earlier, but she would talk to him about it later. She returned the little smile, letting it get a bit bigger as she saw him offer her candy. " Sure," She said as she let the necklace drop back down again and took the candy from him. " Thank you," She said softly, really thanking him for more than just the little piece of sustenance. After a few moments her hand found his under the table and she gave it a quick squeeze before she went back to her silent observance of the room.
