Lasca smiled and filled her plate. She had probably totally freaked her best friend out which is definitely not what she wanted to do. The need to sooth her friend was strong but with everyone so close and more people she knew showing up, now was definitely not the time.

"I told you this place was amazing!" She winked at the young first year and then laughed. The boy Kel that was just introduced to her was incredibly enthusiastic. His small bow surprised her and she had the urge to curtsy but she tamped it down. She was already sitting down and there was no reason to get up. She nodded at Mariel as she vehemently stated that the House cup needed to stay in Ravenclaw.

"That Cup is ours and we need to keep it that way." She was distracted as yet another person she knew walked over and sat down across from her. "Hey Natka! Sure please sit! This is Mariel by the way." She gestured with her hand and smiled.

It suddenly hit her how many more friends she had managed to accumulate and this year had barely started. Her smile grew wider as that thought settled in. This year was going to be amazing!

Still staring, Mariel raised an eyebrow at Lasca's laughter. Not only did she not understand what Lasca had been talking about, but she also did not understand why she was laughing at her. But it appeared that she was about to explain so maybe Mariel would get some answers.

Nate? Who was... Oh right. "Oh, that boy we met on the train?" she asked. He seemed cool enough, but... what? She was craving his presence? That was... unusual, especially seeing as they had just met him today. Or did something else happen between the two of them before Mariel caught up to Lasca on the train? She didn't know Lasca to be so... irrational? That probably wasn't the best word, but it was the first word that came to the young girl's mind. So did this mean Lasca had like a crush or something on the boy? Mariel watched her friend suspiciously as she chewed over this thought. She wasn't all that experienced in those kinds of feelings for boys, but it sure seemed like Lasca fancied this boy. Was that possible? Shrugging to herself as she thought the whole concept to be weird, Mariel scooped some potatoes onto her plate.

"Sure, I'm starving," she answered, giving her an awkward smile. She wasn't sure what to think about this whole boy-liking business. "I'm sure it's okay to help yourself," she said gesturing to the food that had appeared on the table. As she looked up, Mariel's eyes landed on the Slytherin table. "Um, isn't that him?" she asked, glancing back to Lasca. Mariel didn't remember Nate telling her what House he was in during their brief conversation, but apparently he was a Slytherin as he was seated at that table.


As she watched Lasca, Mariel noticed a younger girl sit down at their table next to them. "Dani!" she exclaimed, giving the girl a grin. "Yay, you got Ravenclaw!" She was excited to see yet another Claw and one that she had already met and, daresay, liked.

Nodding her agreement, she said, "Oh, I know you'll love it here." And another Quidditch lover too! Hopefully they would get to play together. "So, help yourself to some food," Mariel added gesturing to the amazing spread in front of them. "The House Elves here are the best."
