Interns are invited to the staff meeting right? Right? Caroline fretted as she made her way to the staff room. She hesitated at the door. Part of her seemed positive that she would be denied entry or thrown from the room like a naughty child if she should dare set foot past the threshold.

She smoothed her skirt for the umpteenth time. Suddenly the decision to wear such a bright and cheerful dress seemed foolish. She should have chosen something more subdued, more mature. And she shouldn’t have worn shoes with BOWS on them. She liked the bows, but they didn’t scream 'Hi, I’m an adult with adult things on her mind.'

Taking a deep breath, Cari stepped inside. “Hello,” she said evenly to the room in general, “is there somewhere in particular I’m supposed to sit?”

Good Cari, act like you belong and they’ll just let you stay.
